I swapped out my Focusrite 2i2 gen2 interface recently for two reasons:
So-so to relatively poor latency performance at rather low sample rates. I recall something like 8ms roundtrip latency at 128 samples, 48 khz. (Just on the verge of crackling with a handful of effects on two channels of audio).
Poor preamp headroom for DI guitar and bass, using pickups with even relatively moderate output.
That's not to say that the Focusrite is a bad interface, it's just ok. If I were going to be using ALK2 in a live setting, the regular USB line of Focusrite interfaces would probably not be my first choice because the drivers just aren't great for low latency, time-critical applications.
FWIW, I now have a Zoom UAC-2 and it solved all the issues I had with Focusrite. Running at 160 samples, 24-bit 48 khz, Reaper reports 5.6 ms roundtrip latency.
