FabFilter Pro Q3 & Pro R cause gradual CPU to spike to 99% while editing

I am using FabFilters Pro Q3 & Pro R plugins (Q3 is an EQ and R is a reverb) which sometimes causes the program to go from about 50-70% Cpu usage to 99% in a few seconds when I am editing a track with these plugins during playback. I typically have around 15-20 tracks all with different plugins.

Are there any ways in which I can prevent this CPU overload with these plugins?

Also, sometimes this does not happen, and other times it does. My session setups are the same in terms of all other programs being closed, but perhaps it being hotter outside is enough to cause this issue?

I sure would love to be able to freely go about my sessions without worrying about CPU overloading.

My computer is:

  • Macbook Pro 15"
  • 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB
    Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
  • macOS Catalina 10.15.3

I have the most updated version of full zenAud.io ALK

Hi @ragdoll.hola

Thanks for your report. Have you tried increasing the buffer size?

Also I can suggest reducing your CPU load by creating submix tracks and only adding plugins to these tracks. 15-20 tracks each with multiple plugins in a live setting where the buffer size should remain low could cause some CPU problems.
