I'm Martin Percossi. I'm a nerdy musician who likes to build fun things! I live in Berlin with my daughter, Lua, son, Alex, and girlfriend, Joanna.
My first musical experience was playing for The Chemical Blondes, a band which rocked Smoke on the Water like... like a high-school band with a 12-year-old on rhythm guitar The fun I had in that band (and chance to hang out with the cool kids) left me hooked for life on the joy of making live music.
After finishing my degree I worked as a developer for 10 years. It was a nice job, but I was continually drawn back into the world of live music. Living in London's Notting Hill area, I played a lot of pub gigs and was plugged into the singer-songwriter scene, as well as playing in another band, The Signals. In 2009 I decided to take the plunge into the creative music world, and moved to Berlin to play in various bands and musical projects.
It was the breakup of one my main band, Shake it or you Lose, that prompted the idea for zenAud.io ALK and brought me back to coding as a day job. Quite simply, the band split up, and I reformed a smaller unit with the drummer of SIOYL. The idea was: small is beautiful (and less arguments!). But we had a serious problem: we wanted to achieve a similar sound to what we had in the prior incarnation of the band -- and we didn't want to abuse playback. It was due to my struggles with various DAWs and looping tools that I came to ask myself why there wasn't a tool that let me do what I wanted to do directly.
And that brings me to ALK. I've been working on this app for 3 years, and it's basically my baby I'm really loving combining my two passions, music and computer science... and I hope it shows when you use the program.
