I have been away from computer based music making for quite a few months now, but played around with and bought ALK back in the V1 days. Hopefully I'll get back to the computer sometime, but there's one thing I'd really like to see implemented, that MAY be covered by the 'manual looping' feature option...
While performing I'd like to be able to loop sections of a song, in a switchable fashion. In my mind I imagine each section could be set to either play once then proceed to the next section, or to loop until further notice. This way a performance could be modified in real time.
So, the intro could be set to loop, and would repeat as long as I wanted. When I was ready to advance I'd hit a foot switch, and after it had finished the song would advance to the next section.
Then maybe the final section of the song is just set to play once, but the audience is loving it and I'd like to play it one more time, so my footswitch will set it to loop again.
I imagine there would be a few options in how this could work exactly, it could get quite complicated, including being able to jump to any section of a song in any order at any time etc. But I think this simplest option of defining song sections that are set to either loop or play once, and a switch to swap that behaviour on the fly would be a good simple option.
The thing I miss about the setup I was using, which was with Mainstage and it's inbuilt loopers, was precisely this. I was playing solo instrumental guitar and keyboards, and could extend or truncate sections depending on the audience, the mood, my playing... etc..
If I was to give this feature request a name it might be flexible looping sections or something, but it could be covered within the scope of manual looping possibly.
Flexibility is the main thing I find lacking currently, along with more flexible ways of setting tempo which I see is covered in the options, though I have some ideas how I'd like that implemented as well which I might share sometime...
