I have been thinking about how I could use ALK as I use my looper pedal. Captured Automation seems to be the right mechanism, but I don't believe it can capture sequencer commands. I think that if I can accomplish the following tasks at the push of a button, in sequence, then I might have a solution:
- Cease existing recording of any track and have it revert to play mode and keep playing
- Create a new track using the same input as the last track, armed and recording
- Begin a recording loop of indeterminate length
Where this falls down for me is creating a track with a default input - I would love the option to set that. Alternately, copying a track with its setting intact without copying the audio data would also work, and I think this can be done with key commands but not with a midi pedal press. The issue of creating the recording loop remains as well.
I realize this could all be planned out but the improvisational nature of my workflow eschews any solid planning, despite my best efforts. Ergo, I seek the wisdom of the community in solving this problem. Has anyone solved this conundrum? Is it possible? Am i missing a piece of the core functionality of ALK that's preventing me from solving my problem?
Many thanks and happy looping!
