I purchased Enso by Audio Damage before I found ALK, and am experimenting with how I can use it with ALK. I initially thought I needed to be able to send midi directly to Enso (which ALK can't do) in order to trigger the record/play/overdub. However there is a 'Mode' automation parameter, so I just needed to figure out what value controlled what function: record (value 0), play (value 67), and overdub (value 33).
In this example, I am using Enso to gradually fade out a previously recorded loop, using the 'frippertronics' settings so that it increases the saturation and chorus as it fades out.
The 'Guitar In 1' track records the loop and starts looping. At bar 6 the Enso track is activated and its Mode is set to Record. The Guitar In 1 track is routed to the Enso track so it starts recording the loop. At the end of the 2 bars the Enso Mode is set to Overdub. Because there is no longer any audio being sent to the Enso track (the Guitar In 1 loop has ended), the Overdub starts gradually fading out the loop (as I have Feedback in Enso set to 50%).
Enso settings. Input Monitoring is set to Never so it doesn't double up the loop as it's recording. Feedback to 50% to fade it out. Dub in Place is deactivated, which is what provides the frippertronics mode (where the loop progressively gets more saturated and more chorus applied).
